FROM VINTAGE
VINTAGE
It all started when…
Chicago’s Own Blah Zae Blah added a stylistic flare to Chicago’s Live by the Rhyme, Die by the Rhyme, Underground Hip Hop scene bubbling all over the city in the early 1990’s. Golden Era Emceeing, inspired From Vintage fly delivery of the Fantastic 5 to Advanced subject matter and lyrical dynamics of an Ultra Magnetic, Blah Zae’s Vibe Da Ughressa, Ski One, Quasheem Bali, and DJ Mass electrified every venue and sound system they blessed. From their freestyle sessions on local college underground radio shows WHPK, WKKC, WNUR, & WCRX, to the then fresh new Hip Hop inspired radio station 106 JAMS, this crew was next up to bat, right behind Common and Twista, they were offered deals by Epic records, Motown, Island, and Sony.
Unfortunately during their signing to a recording contract with Island Records, the groups management team imploded and the creative momentum that had been created was disrupted and disorientating to the group.
So what you are hearing and purchasing now, is a long awaited catalog of music, heard by only a few, but heard about and hoped for by many. Born of dreams, disappointments, determination, ego, brotherly love, strength, pain, and discovery. We deeply hope you enjoy the incredible journey that is Blah Zae Blah. PEACE
